Academic Eligibility
School District Eligibility
Board Policy Statement 6145.1 ACADEMIC ELIGIBILITY
To be eligible to participate in any school sponsored athletic team, extracurricular club or organization, a student must:
- Maintain a minimum “C-“average, or be declared ineligible at progress report and marking periods. When grades are again raised to a “C-“average or better, the student will be eligible to participate in activities in that marking period or the interval between progress report and marking period. Eligibility for the initial fall eligibility for grade 6-8 and 10-12 will be determined by the average for the previous year, rather than for marking period four only. In addition, for students participating in athletic teams, extracurricular clubs and organizations for grades 6-8, and “F” in any core subject will result in ineligibility up to the time they once again maintain a “C-“average or above and have no “F” in a core subject.
- Attend summer school to make up failed courses; credits and grades of courses failed during the previous school year and passed in an approved summer school program may be accepted for the purpose of determining the eligibility of pupils desiring to participate in extracurricular activities. The eligibility rule is a continuum from Grades 6-8 and 9-12. Performance in Grade 8 will not determine eligibility in the fall Grade 9. Students entering the high school enroll with a “clean slate” with regard to grade point average.
